Home Care by Athena was founded in Roseville, CA in 2026 by Carly Pickern and Troy Greenway. Our office is on Reserve Drive. Our caregivers are our employees. And the people whose names are on the license are the people who answer the phone.
Why we started Athena
Athena started with a simple observation: most home care in this area is delivered by national franchises, and the experience for families depends on a local owner they rarely meet and a caregiver they never chose. Carly and Troy believed a smaller, licensed, locally owned agency could do the important things better. Meet the family in person. Hire caregivers as employees and train them properly. Introduce the caregiver before the first shift. Answer the phone.
The name comes from the Greek goddess of wisdom and strategy, and the gold laurel in our logo is a nod to that. Good care is not only kindness; it is judgment, planning and follow-through. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
We are new, and we say so. What we offer instead of a long history is a state license you can verify, a hiring process we will walk you through in detail, and owners who are personally accountable for every care plan.
The people responsible for your parent's care
Carly Pickern
Carly leads day-to-day care operations: assessments, care plans, caregiver matching and the check-ins that keep a plan working. She holds the agency's California Home Care Organization license and is the person families reach when something needs to change.
Troy Greenway
Troy built the business side of Athena so Carly and the care team can stay focused on clients. He handles hiring systems, scheduling technology and the partnerships with local discharge planners and senior communities.
Ginelle Franklin Rowe
Ginelle coordinates schedules, introduces caregivers to families and follows up after the first visits. If a shift needs covering or a routine needs adjusting, she is the one who makes it happen.
Our Home Care Aides appear in photos across this site. We do not publish their names online; you will meet yours in person before care begins.
